After 2+ months, I finally got the 745i back on the road. I need to get a new shift cable but otherwise its basically back to normal. Hopefully I can focus on fixing stuff instead of breaking more stuff to add to the fix it list.

nice! Are those wheels from a non sport e90??

They are actually E63 style 118's. I'm going to replace them with some style 37 M sports as soon as I can fork over the cash for a good set.

I like the look of those newer wheels on an older BMW

That would look killer on some style 20/21 m-system wheels

If I had 17's already I would totally do it, but these tires are to expensive to ditch.

Glad to hear it, last I heard/read you had successfully drove the car long-distance upon purchase. Still haven't gotten around to getting new wheels I see but I can understand why: they'd be the last or one of the last things you've done.
Are you intending to use this as a DD? I'm sorely tempted to get into a W124 for similar reasons for you wanting that big old 7, but a 20-25 year old car, no matter how well made or well-cared for, is scaring me off.
Do you do most of your own wrenching or are you taking to an indy shop?

I drove the car 4 1/2 hours back from maryland. I was going to use it as a winter DD when the roads were clear, and I did, until the trans blew. My brother and I swapped a new trans in ourselves. I dont know of any shop around here that would even begin to know how to work on this thing, and labor would be out the ass.

That's what I figured, unless you're moneybags, you really need to do much of the work yourself.
